How Rivers Won Me Over

A desk with river maps of the Danube and RhineRiver Cruise

I didn't expect river cruising to be the one that stuck. Then it was.

Confession: I did not set out to become a river cruise specialist. I'd sailed oceans, I'd planned land tours, and river cruising seemed — if I'm honest — a little quiet for my taste.

Then I actually did one. And somewhere between a castle-crowned bend of the Rhine and a dinner where I realized I knew every person at the surrounding tables by name, it got me.

It wasn't any single moment. It was the accumulation: docking in the heart of town instead of a distant port. Watching the landscape instead of the horizon. The crew remembering how I take my coffee. The complete absence of queues, crowds, and chaos. River cruising doesn't shout. It just quietly, steadily wins.

That's why rivers became the heart of my business. Because when I recommend something now, it's not from a brochure. It's from the bend in the river where it won me over too.
